Eagle Creek Restoration

Although we have many small projects going on, there is one that is worth to mention in a note apart (it also earned its own space in our virtual home).
Our project could be named Creek Restoration since this is the main goal we need to achieve.

When we mentioned in our “Tehuelche Alpacas” section that we want to incorporate the alpacas into the local area, we mean that we want the alpaca to be a great compliment to the native scenary.
We want to be able to provide our alpacas with the best possible home and we also want the salmon and trout coming through our creek to have the ideal conditions to reach home, lay their eggs and complete their life cycle.

Unfortunately, when we moved to our new home in the fall of 2004, the state of our creek wasn’t the best, neither for the fish nor for our alpacas since it was constantly flooding the pastures and also our main barn.

We decided that the best solution was to contact the Conservation Group and work on a plan that would benefit the natural wildlife and our livelihood.

Since the project might take one or two years to complete in a first stage and three to four years overall, we will update our website with periodic reports sharing information about the progress and the different steps we are taking to complete this difficult, yet gratifying task. We’ll keep you posted!
